Targeted support for those impacted by childhood cancer is being rolled out.
The Child Cancer Counselling Network is a new initiative aiming to increase access to specialised counselling support for families, in or close to their hometown.
Network lead Kirsty Ross says a childhood cancer diagnosis can be considered traumatic.
She says with good psychosocial support, offered at the right time, children and families can get through their experience with strength and resilience.
The network says it's a world first in psychological support.
"What we wanted to do in conjunction with the National Child Cancer Network, is to set up a network of counsellors that have specialised skills and training so that across the country children and their families will be able to access psycho-social support."
