Modelling Emerging Transport Solutions for Urban Mobility

Disruptive technologies and emerging mobility solutions such as MaaS (Mobility as a Service), CAVs (Connected Automated Vehicles), new shared mobility services and demand responsive transport, are bringing radical changes to urban mobility.

The goal of MOMENTUM is to develop a set of new data analysis methods, transport models and planning support tools to capture the impact of these new transport options on the urban mobility ecosystem, in order to support cities in the task of designing the right policy mix to exploit the full potential of these emerging mobility solutions.

The MOMENTUM project, which started in May 2019 and will run for three years, is a project under the CIVITAS Initiative, an EU-funded
programme working to make sustainable and smart mobility a reality for all.

The hybrid event will cater as a fantastic opportunity for consortium partners and attendees to celebrate the successful finalisation of an EU-funded project that focused on the planning of emerging mobility solutions. The main focus of the MOMENTUM Final Conference will be on the presentation of the local planning process for emerging mobility solutions in Regensburg, Madrid, Thessaloniki and Leuven. Furthermore, our MOMENTUM decision-support tool will be presented and use cases will be presented, which will highlight the utility for stakeholders from city administrations and transport planners. Over the last three years, the four MOMENTUM cities tested made plans to integrate emerging mobility solutions in the existing public transport structures. Whether it was a novel solution, such as a autonomous vehicle pilot in Regensburg, or the promotion of shared vehicles through the installation of mobility hubs in Leuven, all cities have their success story to tell. Furthermore, a decision-support tool was created in cooperation with the technical experts of the consortium. This enables the users, like city administrations or transport planners, to model the cost and scope of the deployment of emerging mobility solutions, such as electric scooters, shared bikes or demand-responsive transport. The local stories of the four MOMENTUM cities and the decision-support tool will…
